Although we do not carry open stock of beading supplies or rubberstamping supplies, we are available to schedule small (1 – 4 people) A-La-Carte classes preferably starting in the mornings on Tuesdays, Thursdays, or Saturdays before we open for business. Please contact us if you are interested.
We prepare our class and events by request. If there is something you would like to learn, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate your request, either in the form of one of our previous sessions or through other arrangements. Scrolling back through the class schedule will show some of the classes we have done in the past. **At the moment, our calendar is not functioning in a way that we can add anything new. Please check the “News” page for any classes or events. Thank you for your patience. **
Crafting A-La-Carte is available Tuesdays and Thursdays during the day (mornings 9-11 & afternoons 1-3, we are flexible about those times). The time is available for class but nothing is scheduled until someone reserves the time. The first person to reserve the time chooses what the class will be. We need a minimum of 24 hours notice so we can prepare (some classes require 48 hours to prepare materials). Most classes are available (dependent upon materials availability).
One time of the year that it is difficult to schedule specific Saturday classes is football season. Pendleton is in such close proximity to Clemson that our traffic flow is greatly affected at certain times of the day on home game Saturdays. And our students, who many of which are also fans, are not always able to attend. We therefore schedule a variety of A-La-Carte and Open Studio times instead for those who wish to work around football.
A MUSE is a FREE group of creative souls that meets once a month, with a variety of topics on the agenda. It is a non formal gathering, with a lot of discussion and show and tell. The idea of the group is to explore a variety of techniques in a variety of media as a group. Some of the areas we have explored in the past are word association, create from someone elses scraps, round-robin doodling, a variety of poetry styles, gelly plate printing, shaving cream marbeling, and many more. Each month we usually have an exercise for each member to create, contemplate and explore (and sometimes there is optional “homework”). If you are interested in joining us, call the Mercantile and let us know so that we can ensure there is enough seating for all.
Paper Beads – 2 hours – Cindy Earl Higgins – $18.00
Using a variety of papers, learn to create beautiful paper beads in different shapes and sizes that can then be used in a number of other projects.
We will be closed on Monday, August 13 so we can have a “long” weekend mini-vacation to spend time with out of town family here for a visit.

A GREAT day to celebrate 30 years of The Mercantile here on the sunny side of the square in beautiful downtown Pendleton, SC!
Who would have thought that the dream Mom (Connie) had all those years ago would be here today! We all hoped it would be a lasting venture, and are proud to celebrate with you!
Our long-time customer/friend Jean Jones will be bringing her selection of LuLaRoe clothing for you to shop right here at The Mercantile.
LuLaRoe is a line of easy-care, comfortable clothing for women, men and children. They are best known for their “buttery soft” leggings, but they offer a wide array of skirts, dresses, tops, cardigans and more! The fabrics are always so soft and comfy. But if you see a color or print in a style you want, you had better snag it while you can! They make a limited number of items in each fabric. You may never see it again… The selection is ever-changing.
We hope to see you here!
Jenny Bradford, an independent distributor for Young Living Essential Oils will join us for a demo and question and answer period.
If you have any interest in what Essential Oils can do for you and your family, this is a wonderful opportunity to learn more without any obligations.
After Jenny is finished, we will have a Make & Take creating Essential Oil jewelry. Please see that listing for more information.

This wonderful festival on the historic village green in downtown Pendleton, SC boasts over 90 vendors, entertainment, children’s activities and delicious foods (both from the vendors & the local eateries).
Country Living Magazine recognized it one of “15 Amazing Halloween Celebrations Across America!” This festival occurs during the town-wide Scarecrow Contest. The conclusion of the voting and the announcement of the winners for the Scarecrow Contest is during the festival.
Spend the day visiting the local shops in our beautiful town as well as seeing what regional artisans have created.
This is a rain or shine event. Village ordinances do not allow dogs on the Village Green during events for the safety of attendees.
