Schedule of Classes & Events

Although we do not carry open stock of beading supplies or rubberstamping supplies, we are available to schedule small (1 – 4 people) A-La-Carte classes preferably starting in the mornings on Tuesdays, Thursdays, or Saturdays before we open for business. Please contact us if you are interested.

We prepare our class and events by request.  If there is something you would like to learn, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate your request, either in the form of one of our previous sessions or through other arrangements. Scrolling back through the class schedule will show some of the classes we have done in the past. **At the moment, our calendar is not functioning in a way that we can add anything new.  Please check the “News” page for any classes or events. Thank you for your patience. **

Classroom

Crafting A-La-Carte is available Tuesdays and Thursdays during the day (mornings 9-11 & afternoons 1-3, we are flexible about those times).  The time is available for class but nothing is scheduled until someone reserves the time.  The first person to reserve the time chooses what the class will be.  We need a minimum of 24 hours notice so we can prepare (some classes require 48 hours to prepare materials).  Most classes are available (dependent upon materials availability).

One time of the year that it is difficult to schedule specific Saturday classes is football season. Pendleton is in such close proximity to Clemson that our traffic flow is greatly affected at certain times of the day on home game Saturdays. And our students, who many of which are also fans, are not always able to attend.  We therefore schedule a variety of A-La-Carte and Open Studio times instead for those who wish to work around football.

It has been a few months since we hosted a LuLaRoe Pop-Up here at the Mercantile.  But now that the craziness of the holiday season is over and we have both had our bouts with this crazy head-cold thing, we are definitely ready!

Our long-time customer/friend Jean Jones will be bringing her selection of LuLaRoe clothing for you to shop right here at The Mercantile.  She had been scheduled the last time, but unfortunately had to cancel due to a health issue (now resolved!) and our friend Katie filled in for her.

LuLaRoe is a line of easy-care, comfortable clothing for women, men and children.  They are best known for their “buttery soft” leggings, but they offer a wide array of skirts, dresses, tops, cardigans and more!  The fabrics are always so soft and comfy.  But if you see a color or print in a style you want, you had better snag it while you can!  They make a limited number of items in each fabric.  You may never see it again…

We hope to see you here!

** Updated with correct time. **

The rain really did dampen the evening when Jean & Mike came on February 28.  We had a fabulous time, but it was not a great night for anyone to be out and about.  We have scheduled them to come again in April, on a Saturday afternoon!

Clay Cups
Jun 30 @ 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm

Clay Cups – 3 hours – Cindy Earl Higgins – $25

Due to Cindy breaking her arm, this class is cancelled and will be offered again after she is able to get back to working with the clay.  We are sorry for any inconvenience.

In this class, the students will learn how to build clay cups with textured surfaces.  Some may have handles, others may not.

These will be created out of ceramic clay that will need to dry thoroughly (at lease 1 week) and be fired once to strengthen them.  The student will then make arrangements to come back to glaze them before they are dried and fired again to a hotter temperature to complete them.

All glazes that will be available for use are lead free and food safe when used according to the manufacturers directions.

A photo of a sample style will be posted once its final firing is complete.
