Although we do not carry open stock of beading supplies or rubberstamping supplies, we are available to schedule small (1 – 4 people) A-La-Carte classes preferably starting in the mornings on Tuesdays, Thursdays, or Saturdays before we open for business. Please contact us if you are interested.
We prepare our class and events by request. If there is something you would like to learn, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate your request, either in the form of one of our previous sessions or through other arrangements. Scrolling back through the class schedule will show some of the classes we have done in the past. **At the moment, our calendar is not functioning in a way that we can add anything new. Please check the “News” page for any classes or events. Thank you for your patience. **
Crafting A-La-Carte is available Tuesdays and Thursdays during the day (mornings 9-11 & afternoons 1-3, we are flexible about those times). The time is available for class but nothing is scheduled until someone reserves the time. The first person to reserve the time chooses what the class will be. We need a minimum of 24 hours notice so we can prepare (some classes require 48 hours to prepare materials). Most classes are available (dependent upon materials availability).
One time of the year that it is difficult to schedule specific Saturday classes is football season. Pendleton is in such close proximity to Clemson that our traffic flow is greatly affected at certain times of the day on home game Saturdays. And our students, who many of which are also fans, are not always able to attend. We therefore schedule a variety of A-La-Carte and Open Studio times instead for those who wish to work around football.
Our LuLaRoe consultant friend Katie Dante is bringing her wonderfully comfortable clothes here to The Mercantile for another Pop-up Boutique! We planned it for 5 – 7 PM on Friday, October 21, 2016 so you can stop by on your way home from work.
LuLaRoe is known for their buttery soft leggings as well as their wonderful selection of skirts, tops and dresses and cardigans, all in sizes to fit from XXS – 3XL. In addition to that, they also have a wonderful line of children’s clothing.
What makes their prints unique is that only 1,000 – 2,000 items are made from each print. That print will show up in multiple sizes across several styles. But when they are gone, they are gone.
We will have refreshments available and are looking forward to a fun evening!

Porcelain Heart Wall Hanging – 3 hours – $20 – Cindy Earl Higgins
Cindy has made this porcelain heart wall hanging at the request of one of our students. It will measure around 10″ when completely fired. The textures will vary as each student desires. The hearts will need to dry for a week or two and then be fired. Glazing will require a second firing, options will be discussed during class. The finished pieces are planned to be ready no later than the weekend before Valentine’s Day! (Just in case someone wants to give it as a gift to their sweetheart!)
Wind Chimes – 2 hours – Cindy Earl Higgins – $20
Create a set of clay wind chimes to hang on your front porch or in your garden.
These will be allowed to dry and then Cindy will fire them for pick-up and assembly at a later date.
Clay Fairy Door – 3 hours – Cindy Earl Higgins – $20
These whimsical fairy doors can be added to your outdoor garden or used for an indoor Fairy garden. (Photo to follow upon completion of the sample.)
Cindy will have templates for a few door shapes, but students can add embellishments as they wish. The doors will need to dry thoroughly before firing the clay (approximately a week). Students then can schedule a time to return for glazing them before their final firing.

Build A Toad House – $25.00 – Cindy Earl Higgins
The toads need a cool dry place to hide away from the strong Southern sun. Cindy will have templates and texturing tools for building a ceramic Toad House for the garden out of clay.
Build the Toad House in class, choose a color of glaze from the samples for the roof. Once they have dried thoroughly, Cindy will fire them, glaze the roof tops and fire them again.
The photos are of students’ finished work.
