Although we do not carry open stock of beading supplies or rubberstamping supplies, we are available to schedule small (1 – 4 people) A-La-Carte classes preferably starting in the mornings on Tuesdays, Thursdays, or Saturdays before we open for business. Please contact us if you are interested.
We prepare our class and events by request. If there is something you would like to learn, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate your request, either in the form of one of our previous sessions or through other arrangements. Scrolling back through the class schedule will show some of the classes we have done in the past. **At the moment, our calendar is not functioning in a way that we can add anything new. Please check the “News” page for any classes or events. Thank you for your patience. **
Crafting A-La-Carte is available Tuesdays and Thursdays during the day (mornings 9-11 & afternoons 1-3, we are flexible about those times). The time is available for class but nothing is scheduled until someone reserves the time. The first person to reserve the time chooses what the class will be. We need a minimum of 24 hours notice so we can prepare (some classes require 48 hours to prepare materials). Most classes are available (dependent upon materials availability).
One time of the year that it is difficult to schedule specific Saturday classes is football season. Pendleton is in such close proximity to Clemson that our traffic flow is greatly affected at certain times of the day on home game Saturdays. And our students, who many of which are also fans, are not always able to attend. We therefore schedule a variety of A-La-Carte and Open Studio times instead for those who wish to work around football.
Basic Calligraphy Workshop – 6 hours – Cindy Earl Higgins – $35 (includes lunch)
In this workshop we will work on the basic tenets of calligraphy, the proper pen position and the basic strokes that make up the letters in C-point lettering. The key to consistent calligraphy is practice, practice, practice. This workshop will give the budding calligrapher a head-start with the practice.
Lunch will be ordered from The Village Bakery & Cafe and eaten while the class takes a break.
The afternoon will have a bit more practice and a small lettering project to help see how to lay out the lettering.
** This class itself will not create a seasoned calligrapher. Plenty of practice is needed to help keep up the rhythm of the process.
If you want to come in and work on some of your Un-Finished Objects, we have the space. Beading, Rubber Stamping, Mixed Media… all are welcome.
If you wish to use our tools a $5.00 bench fee applies, free otherwise (plus the cost of any of our supplies you might need to complete your project).

There was a fabulous turn out again last month.
We hope you can come and visit and see what’s going on.
This groups meets once a month, with a variety of topics on the agenda. It is a non formal gathering, with a lot of discussion and show and tell. Our LuLaRoe consultant friend Katie Dante is bringing her wonderfully comfortable clothes here to The Mercantile for another Pop-up Boutique! We planned it for 5 – 7 PM on Monday, August 15 so you can stop by on your way home from work.
LuLaRoe is known for their buttery soft leggings as well as their wonderful selection of skirts, tops and dresses and cardigans, all in sizes to fit from XXS – 3XL. In addition to that, they also have a wonderful line of children’s clothing.
What makes their prints unique is that only 1,000 – 2,000 items are made from each print. That print will show up in multiple sizes across several styles. But when they are gone, they are gone.
We will have refreshments available and are looking forward to a fun evening!
